The department, formerly known as the mathematics division, was renamed the “Department of Mathematics Education” in 1998.The aims of the department are to produce school teachers, and cultural / educational workers with professional mathematics education backgrounds. The Department of Mathematics Education offers three degree programs: a bachelor’s program, a master’s program, and a professional development program for in-service persons.  All full-time faculty members in the department hold doctoral degrees in their areas of expertise.  In recent years, the focus of the department has been to integrate mathematics, education, and technology, in order to develop a new trend – mathematics education with learning technology.  Enrolled students can select courses in four areas: mathematics education, mathematics, educational measurement and statistics, and information technology.
